VIDEOS "Write the Book They Can't Put Down" is based on my article "The Shifting Grail" from the international award-winning writing guide Many Genres, One Craft , which I co-edited with Michael A. Arnzen . This video captured the version I presented for MGOC's publisher Headline Books and their Zoom Into Books series on April 8, 2020. Using examples of well-known movies and literature, I show how character motivation can dictate pacing and suspense, making your book one readers can't put down. I've also taught an extended version as a class for Seton Hill University's MFA in Writing Popular Fiction program.

EVENTS The June 2013 Residency at Seton Hill University for their Writing Popular Fiction MFA Program always coincides with the WPF Alum-sponsored In Your Write Mind Conference . That means hundreds of writers on campus for an incredible summer event. This year was even more celebratory as we had two film crews on property. The Popular Romance Project was filming students, faculty, and alum for the documentary Love Between the Covers , and I was there with Matthew D. Dowling and the GoingLIVE TV show to do interviews. Many Genres editor Michael A. Arnzen was chosen as the 2011 Professor of the Year at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Michael Arnzen (Ph.D., U Oregon) is an English professor by day and a horror/suspense writer by night. He holds four Bram Stoker Awards for his often funny, always disturbing fiction. His courses in the English program at Seton Hill run the gamut from expository and creative writing to literary criticism and film history, and he is an active teacher in the first year Seminar in Thinking and Writing. He has mentored novelists and led graduate writing workshops in SHU's unique MFA program in Writing Popular Fiction since 1999. He advised the campus literary magazine, Eye Contact , from 1999-2009. Dr. Arnzen began serving as Humanities Division Chair at Seton Hill in Fall 2009.
