BOOKS The wonderful crew at Meteor House sent out this press release for their giant e-book sale , which includes Man of War . As our loyal readers around the world continued to stay at home, protecting themselves and their neighbors, we here at Meteor House want to continue to do our small part in helping everyone flatten the curve, and so for the past week all of our ebooks have been on sale . One of the things we love here at Meteor House has been the opportunity to allow other writers to create new stories based in Philip José Farmer's worlds. Today we spotlight Man of War: A Two Hawks Adventure by the very talented Heidi Ruby Miller . In Philip José Farmer’s novel Two Hawks from Earth, Native American pilot Roger Two Hawks flew through his first “gate” while on a bombing run over Romania during World War II. The gate brought him to Earth 2, a world where the Americas never existed. Since then he has continued to fight battles on Earth after Earth, each stranger tha...

BOOKS I can't tell you what an honor it is to write a sequel to a Science Fiction Grandmaster's novel. Thank you to Meteor House and the Philip José Farmer estate for this incredible opportunity. Thank you also to Christopher Paul Carey for writing the introduction and to Mark Wheatley for such beautiful cover art. And, of course, thank you to Michael Croteau and Paul Spiteri at Meteor House for their skills as editors. Man of War: A Two Hawks Adventure by Heidi Ruby Miller In Philip José Farmer’s novel Two Hawks from Earth , Native American pilot Roger Two Hawks flew through his first “gate” while on a bombing run over Romania during World War II. The gate brought him to Earth 2, a world where the Americas never existed. Since then he has continued to fight battles on Earth after Earth, each more strange than the next. In Heidi Ruby Miller’s short story “Dakota’s Gate” ( Worlds of Philip José Farmer 3 ), set on Earth 3, North America never advanced past stone tools an...

SFFS: Snippet #2 from "Dakota's Gate" in The Worlds of Philip José Farmer 3

"Dakota's Gate" from The Worlds of Philip José Farmer 3: Portraits of a Trickster DESCRIPTION: This is my second and last snippet from "Dakota's Gate," a continuation of Farmer's novel Two Hawks from Earth . I fell in love with Roger Two Hawks' character--he's a displaced, romantic soldier just trying to get home. He relies on his instincts as much as his intellect to see him through one crisis after another, and never loses his spirit, though he is quite lonely. What's not to love?! So, I gave him a special someone by introducing a new character, Dakota Cummings, into the Farmer-verse. Now about the anthology... A third venture through the works of Philip José Farmer focusing on his penchant for literary tricksterism featuring essays by Frederik Pohl, Michael Bailey, Steven Connelly, Bruce Sterling, Chris Garcia, Tom Wode Bellman, Jonathan Swift Somers III, David M. Harris, Leo Queequeg Tincrowdor, and Rick Lai and fiction by Charlott...
