ARTICLE: Heidi Ruby Miller's Uncanny Interview with Michael A. Arnzen at SIGMA

Image
ARTICLES I've known Mike Arnzen for a long time and always suspected there was something a little different about him, something a little...uncanny. After his presentation at the December 2015 Parsec meeting and this interview, I'm convinced it's totally true. Read the entire interview at gorelets.com or in the SIGMA newsletter, edited by David Brody . His non-fiction book The Popular Uncanny is due out with Guide Dog Books in 2016. Here's a video where Mike goes into a bit more detail about the uncanny.

Reading: Michael Arnzen at Morgantown Poets

Image
Readings Michael A. Arnzen reading his story from Legends of the Mountain State 4 Last night we headed to the Monongalia Arts Center (MAC, as it is affectionately referred to by resident artists) in Morgantown, WV . The Morgantown Poets were having their monthly meeting, and Mike Arnzen was the guest reader. His ghoulish selections for the Halloween season came from Audiovile , Proverbs for Monsters , Rigmarole: Zombie Poems , Legends of the Mountain State 4 and his inventive tweets . Other readers included Scott Emerson and Ted Webb and Diane Tarantini , who will be sharing their written work at Zenclay in Morgantown on November 5, 2010. A video of Mike's readings will be online soon.

EVENT: Exquisite Corpse Screening

Image
EVENTS Jason Jack Miller and I attended Mike Arnzen's screening of Exquisite Corpse on November 9. Ten directors from around the world made eleven short films based on his work in 100 Jolts. We first had dinner at Primanti's with Timons Esaias , Al Wendland , Moira Richardson, and Mike Brendan . Then it was off to Seton Hill where we met up with Pat Picciarelli, Becca Baker, Bruce Siskawicz, and Karen Herc. Here's Arnzen casually drinking his coffee before it all got underway. And, here's Bruce's reaction to Mike's latest book LICKER. Unfortunately we missed the second Greensburg screening on November 25, but he's hoping to show it at residency in January.
