I realized I never mentioned the panels I moderated and the people who were on them.

The Academics of Popular Fiction had Michael Arnzen, Jason Jack Miller, Karen Nagle, and Joseph Martino discussing what the industry and academia mean by the term 'popular fiction' and how (or if) it differs from literature.

Mike Resnick, Timons Esaias, and Jason Jack Miller shared stories of travel in How Traveling and Travel Writing Affect Our Fiction.

Also, hello to sister poets stillnotbored and Catherine A. Callaghan. After the poetry reading I bought Cathy's book Other Worlds: Poems on Prints by M. C. Escher.

Not only did Chun not call ahead, but he wasn't allowed to curse about it when he got there.

  1. Heidi - It was wonderful finally getting to meet you in person, but I'm so sorry we never got a chance to chat. Next time, I hope.

I had to chuckle at the pic of Mike Arnzen and me...such a lady-like position to be sitting in. gawd... I was actually a little rattled for that reading (unlike the usual hambone that I am), but thanks so much for being there. I hope to see you again soon!

    Hugs from CT,
    Fran

  2. Fran:

You did a wonderful reading! Seriously, the words stayed with me the entire weekend.

    Best,
    Heidi

  3. Thanks, Heidi, I really appreciate the vote of confidence. It means a lot coming from you. But I am sorry those words stuck with you all weekend. That bad boy is not exactly a comforting companion, but the story does seem to have that effect on folks. It's, shall we say, a bit sticky. ;-)

    Have a great weekend!

    Hugs,
    Fran
