STARRIE 1.4

Enjoy some Science Fiction Adventure from the Ambasadora-verse! I'm posting my novel Starrie in order starting from chapter one. This is post four.  Read the rest of the story so far here.

And, check out other wonderful posts at the SFR Brigade.

STARRIE  (FROM THE WORLD OF AMBASADORA) by Heidi Ruby Miller

He motioned for the left flank to keep to the trees for cover. The tall, fat-trunked pines remained dense until the timberline gave way to a boulder field buffering Durstal Ki, the highest mountain in the Chulama Chain. The sun had a few moments left in the sky to their rear, but the peaks loomed ahead like a black hole, ready to suck them in, never to be seen again.

Like so many women Liu Stavros brought here.

Anger threatened Ben's concentration as he remembered how Mari narrowly escaped that fate. He had no business thinking about the woman his brother had killed a man over.

Returning to his combat experience, Ben fed his conflicted emotions into a furnace inside him that kept his energy up, his mind alert, and his determination resolute.

With none of the heavy Armadan armor to impede their stealth, the men and women wore only fatigues of blended nylon and flex steel. Body-fitting flat packs carried specially condensed supplies and also served as flak vests. Skull caps rested easily on their heads—the face plates and visors retracted.

BOOK DESCRIPTION:
Starrie is a direct sequel to Greenshift. It follows the story of Ben Anlow (David's younger brother) and his team as they embark on a revenge mission to bring down serial murderer and rapist, Liu Stavros, at his fortress in the inhospitable mountains of Tampa Three. But contractor Naela Starrie already has her own kind of vengeance planned for Stavros. Even as a battle-hardened soldier, Ben's not prepared for the darkness he sees in the female assassin, nor the way she challenges his prejudices about contractors when she makes a sacrifice to save to his life.

This novel runs concurrent with Ambasadora Book 1: Marked by Light, the first book of the main space opera series. And we follow a thread of Starrie into Book 2: Scarred by Light.

Look for Starrie from Dog Star Books in July 2014 and Ambasadora Book 2: Scarred by Light in late 2014.

  1. "Ben fed his conflicted emotions into a furnace inside him that kept his energy up, his mind alert, and his determination resolute."

I love this sentence! I just wallow in my emotions (LOL), so reading about someone doing constructive things with conflicted ones is inspiring. And great snippet. We get a taste of the action soon to come.
